Arrive at Barot and drive to Bada Gran (2 hours) and trek to Plachek (4 hours)
Upon arrival at Barot, you will board a vehicle that takes you on a 1 hour drive to Bada Gran, winding road through Chahar valley along Uhl river. Our trek starts at Bada Gran, a village hanging off the mountains. We trek down to the river, cross it over to the other side & climb back up along the valley. Cross the river again & stay overnight in tents/Forest Rest House at the grassy campsite of Plachek.

Trek from Plachek to Panihartu (4 to 5 hours)
We head out today, gradually climbing up towards Jhodi which will be our first break, after 2 hours. It’s a walk among scenic spruce, aok & rhododendron forests till jhodi where we re-group for lunch. It will be more or less a gradual walk thereafter, crossing glacier streams to reach Panihartu in another 3 hours. Panihartu is a campsite in a vast open area, where water coming from 4-5 different streams form the Uhl river. It has a small food place for the shepherds who use this route to cross over to Bara Bangal village.

Day 3
Trek from Panihartu to Thamsar Pass & back to Panihartu (6 to 7 hours)
With lighter backpacks, we leave the Panihartu campsite, a steep ascent taking us past a glacier lake towards the Thamsar Pass. The trail is glacier moraine & a hard climb of 4-5 hours takes us to the top of the pass. The views from the pass are magnificent, with Pir Panjal & Mani Mahesh ranges visibile to the north. We spend time at the pass and Thamsar lake which is adjacent to the pass on the other side. After lunch, we head back towards our campsite at the pastures of Panihartu.

Day 4
Trek from Panihartu to Plachek (3 to 4 hours)
We retrace our steps back from Panihartu towards Plachek. Today’s walk is mostly downhill, passing Jhodi  and reaching the campsite at Plachek in 3 to 4 hours. We camp next to Uhl river, enjoying the camp nestled between Dhauladhar & Kullu mountain range.

Day 5
Trek from Plachek to Bada Gran (3 to 4 hours) and drive to Barot (1 hour)
