At Leh
Arrive in Leh. Pick up from the Leh airport and transfer to your guest house accommodation. An additional rest day in Leh is recommended before commencing on any trek to help acclimatize better to the high altitude. We will complete trek related formalities during this period. You can utilize this time for sightseeing around Leh – a visit to the Thiksey and Hemis monasteries, Leh palace and the Shanti Stupa can be done in a day.

Day 3
Drive from Leh to Rumtse (2 hours)
After breakfast drive for about 2 hours from Leh to Rumtse (4095m) covering a distance of 76 kms. No trekking for today as we stay in tents at Rumtse for the night.

Day 4
Trek from Rumtse to Kyamar (4 to 5 hours)
The trekking starts from Rumtse onwards through the valley, ascending gradually over a flat terrain to a height of 4383m to reach Kyamar in 4 to 5 hours. We camp in tents at Kyamar for tonight.

Day 5
Trek from Kyamar to Tisaling (5 to 6 hours)
Today we trek for 5 to 6 hours, crossing 2 high altitude passes: Kyumur La (4870m) and Mandalchan La (4996m). The day’s trek ends after a descend to the Tisaling (4800m) campsite.

Day 6
Trek from Tisaling to Pangunagu (5 to 6 hours)
From Tisaling, a gradual ascend leads up to Shingbuk La (5016m) and then descends to the beautiful camping site of Pangunagu (4398m), which is known to have a large presence of wild asses. The day’s trek requires 5 to 6 hours in all.

Day 7
Trek from Pangunagu to Nuruchan (4 to 5 hours)
Initially we trek on an easy sandy trail along the Tsokar lake for about 2 hours followed by an easy ascent for 2 more hours to the Nuruchan (4500m) campsite, set amidst green fields and next to a stream.

Day 8
Trek from Nuruchan to Rachungkaru (3 to 4 hours)
An easy day’s trek for 3 to 4 hours which starts with a river crossing followed by a short ascend to Horlam Kongka La (4712m). Great views of the stark blue waters of Tsokar lake from atop the pass! Having crossed Horlam Kongka La, we descend gradually and cross another stream to reach the Rachungkaru (4668m) campsite.

Day 9
Trek from Rachungkaru to Gyamalhoma (6 to 7 hours)
The day starts with the ascent of Kyamayuru La (5125m) which takes around 2 hours –
a challenging pass to climb, but with magnificent views from atop to reward the trekkers.
A level trek for some time leads to another small pass Gyama La (5110m) which offers great views of the surrounding snow-capped peaks. The day’s trek takes about 6 to 7 hours in all, ending at the Gyamalhoma campsite – a beautiful high altitude campsite with snow capped peaks all around, making it one of the colder campsites on this trek.

Day 10
Trek from Gyamalhoma to Korzok (4 to 5 hours)
An easy day, trekking along a stream for 2 hours to reach the highest point for the day and descend down to Korzok village thereafter. Magnificent views of the Tso-Morriri, the largest high altitude lake entirely within India, makes the journey of the last few days seem really worthwhile.

Day 11
Drive from Korzok to Leh (6 hours)
Our trek ends with a leisurely hike around the Tso-Morriri lake, in the company of Brahmini ducks and bar-necked geese. We drive to Leh after relaxing near the lake for a while. The drive back takes us through Chumathang – a hot spring known for its medicinal properties.
